I know this post is probably (definitely) a little premature. In fact, as I type this, the rain hammers down outside with not even a hint that it might let up within the next hour. I have a feeling spring is going to take her sweet time this year...
Nevertheless, I wanted to share some of the knitwear that i've been longing for over the past few days and which to me, are the perfect transitional pieces from winter to spring.
So let's just dive right in shall we?
1. Pastel blue cashmere. I came across this beautiful piece from Zara whilst perusing the website last week and fell in love. It's such a relaxed and effortless shape, yet there is something so luxurious about cashmere that makes it just a little bit special. It's also the perfect fabric for spring transition in that it will keep you warm, but you're not going to get all sweaty and over-heat like you might might if you were wearing sheep's wool! I don't currently own any cashmere but it's on my 'to own' list as I think it should be a staple in the wardrobe.
2. Holey jumpers. I really love the look of this cream laddered jumper. It has a fresh look about it and would look great with a pair of tight black leather trousers and nude heeled sandles. Unfortunately, I found this image on tumblr and in a flurry of excitement I saved it without taking note of the brand (*slaps wrist*) but, in my travels, I found plenty of jumpers just like this one so it is easy to find!
3. White wool. As I said earlier, I think we can all feel safe in the knowledge that spring isn't going to be showing her face any time soon, so we can expect some of our chunkier knits to stick around for a little while! I think a nice way to move your wardrobe from winter to spring whilst still dressing for colder weather is to wear white, or at least lighter and brighter colours! I love this slouchy knitted jumper from Monki. It's light and fresh with a fairly loose knit, but still has a little wool content to protect you from those cold crisp spring (or not) mornings!
4. Lightweight distressed knitwear. This piece from ASOS is probably my favourite of the four I have shown. It's got a grungy distressed vibe to it but it still feels fresh and feminine. The colour is also much brighter and a nice move away from the darker colours that have been hanging around this winter!
I just have to add that I don't actually own any of the above
